Who are we?

Atikameksheng Strong is a grassroots movement within the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, created by community members who believe in good governance, accountability, and the principle that the people must always have the final say in decisions that affect their collective future. We are guided by Anishinaabe teachings, our Gchi-Naaknigewin (community constitution), and deeply rooted in traditional values, relationships and responsibilities that prioritize the well-being of community, respect for the land and guidance from ancestral teachings.  It is not just about decision-making structures, but about a way of being that aligns with Anishnaabe views.
